Join the Journey: Support the Vinlandferth Expedition
Vinlandferth, Inc. is a Florida-based non-profit on a bold mission: to construct an historically accurate replica of the legendary Gokstad Viking ship and sail it from Denmark to the U.S. Gulf Coast in mid-2027.
This is more than a voyage — it is living history. A 1,100-year-old dream reborn in oak and iron, crossing the same Atlantic waters once mastered by Norse explorers. We invite you to become part of this historic endeavor. Your support is the wind in our sails.
How Your Donation Helps
Every contribution directly powers the entire mission and ensures we maintain the highest standards of historical authenticity and safety:
- Ship Construction & Completion — Final payments to the master shipwrights at the Viking Ship Museum boatyard in Denmark, allowing them to finish this extraordinary oak vessel using traditional clinker construction and hand-forged iron rivets.
- Crew Training & Logistics — Funding travel, provisioning, and intensive open-ocean training so our crew can confidently handle 18 oars and the 45.5-square-meter square sail across the North Atlantic.
- The 2027 Voyage — Covering essential insurance, modern navigation equipment, safety gear, and logistical support needed for a successful and safe transatlantic crossing.
Ways to Give
Individual Donations
Whether a one-time gift or a monthly commitment, every amount brings us closer to launch. You can also donate materials, tools, or professional expertise.
Corporate & Legacy Sponsorships
We offer meaningful partnership opportunities for companies, foundations, and visionary individuals who want to tie their name to this once-in-a-lifetime expedition.
Sponsor a specific element of the ship (such as a section of the hull, the mast, or the sail), equip the crew, or become a Legacy Sponsor whose support will be permanently recognized in the vessel’s history. These partnerships provide excellent visibility, storytelling opportunities, and the chance to associate your brand with courage, craftsmanship, and exploration.
